The answer
is yes.
And the question is, are men necessary?
As Maureen Dowd said on the Dec. 5 Colbert Report, “Why do people always assume the answer is no? The answer is yes, of course!”
Dowd wasn’t a particularly good guest — she has a very flirty manner, part of which I’m sure was affected to match the general silliness of TCR. But it makes her seem a little sycophantic, like she might just agree with anything her host says, then cut him down behind his back.
Colbert’s persona also breaks down when he’s interviewing real people. He’s funniest when he’s ranting, or persecuting his staff.
