Rolling Stone’s misogyny party
Looks like that hard-hitting political mag, Rolling Stone, decided to cover the Lynndie England trial in its 10/20 issue. If you don’t remember England, she’s “that little hillbilly twit […] who made the words ‘Abu Ghraib’ infamous.” According to RS she got “banged in a latrine somewhere in Iraq” and gave birth to a “demon love child.”
What do I like best about the article? Is it the way Matt Taibbi tries to sound edgy by using lots of bad words? Apparently Abu Ghraib was like “having to call an ambulance to get the proverbial frozen hot dog out of your snatch.” It was “the worst-case scenario come true, the gerbil-in-the-ass story.” Basically Matt’s thesis is that the mainstream media has forgotten about Abu Ghraib, so he needs to remind America by being crude, ugly, and simplistic. Because clearly that’s the only way we’ll understand.
Or is it the way that, in his attempt to satirize the trial, Matt makes England his dehumanized whippin’ girl? She’s “a backward little dumb shit.” When Muslims look at her, they must see “a frightenly ugly beast.” She gets banged and squeezes out devil spawn. As opposed to say, having sex and giving birth. Those are for nice girls.
Why don’t you just strip her down and put her on a leash, Matt? And take pictures.
